Background
Aspire Youth was founded in 2014 in Cape Town as a social enterprise built to empower unemployed and out-of-school youth through income-generating opportunities and personal growth.
This is done through a 20-month programme which combines life skills, mental health support, entrepreneurship training & support, and guided pathways to employment.
Our grant, alongside contributions from two other foundations (EMPower and the Ashmore Foundation), covers their 12-month Incubator programme costs – enabling 35 young people to develop micro-businesses. The programme has an 85% success rate, with graduates earning R8,000–R12,000/month within 18 months and contributing to positive community change.
